Replace Drawer Slides

There seems to be an endless amount of choices when it comes to drawer slides if yours are worn out it is an easy yet sometimes frustrating job to replace them.

In order to get the right Cabinet Hardware you will
need to know if your cabinets are framed or frameless.

A framed cabinet you can see a border around your doors this border is usually about 11/2 inches wide a frame less cabinet does not have a border the front edge of the cabinet simply ends at the front about ¾ of an inch wide.

The easiest way to replace them is with the same style that originally came with your drawers. Remove your troublesome drawer and both parts of the slide one part is on the drawer and the other part is mounted to the cabinet. I recommend you take both sides with you to the hardware store and match up a set just like you have. This is the simplest way.

Unfortunately not everything is so simple if you want to replace with the newer ball bearing full extension slides you may have to do some extensive modifications to the cabinet.

The drawer slides that mount under the drawer can be easily converted but the side mount slides run into a problem with spacing.

One of the most common problems with drawer slides is the cabinet itself the mounting area tends to break causing the slide to fail you may have to glue or screw in a new mounting block to attach your new slide.
