Defining Your Bathroom Sinks

There are several essential “types” of bathroom sink, each with their own sub types. What follows is a basic introduction to a few of the more prominent types. First, the standard and classic self rimming sink: these sinks are recessed into the countertop itself, supported by the lip of the rim and the drain system beneath. In all likelihood, this is the sink you have installed in your bathroom right now. Under mount sinks are set up beneath the countertop, or are built into (and beneath) the countertop itself. These sinks do not have rims, though sometimes they are wall mounted for enhanced stability. Pedestal sinks are detached from the countertop and are supported by their very own column or pedestal. Finally, vessel sinks: these are the most popular sinks today. For more information on bathroom vessel sinks, check out this article.
