It can seem like one of the simplest things to do around the house, but when it comes to changing your duvet cover, many people get tied up in all the material and flustered that the corners do not meet. But it doesn’t have to be like this. For a step by step guide of changing your duvet cover, this is the article for you.

Step 1
First of all, you need to take the old duvet cover off your bed, ready to be washed. This will leave your bed free from any unnecessary objects that will only hinder your progress at replacing the duvet cover. The more room you have the better, especially if you have a king sixe duvet cover or even a super king.

Step 2
The second thing to do is to turn your fresh duvet cover inside out. When you start trying to fit the blanket inside the duvet cover it will become clear why we do this. Lay the blanket itself onto the bed as you would sleep under it, , normally with the two widest sides at the sides of the bed.

Step 3
Find the two corners of the duvet cover which correspond with the two end corners of the blanket. With most duvet covers this is the two corners furthest away from the cover opening. If the duvet cover manages to fall over your body so your head is at the end of it, move back out of the cover and bunch the material over your arms.

Step 4
You then need to fix those corners to the right end of the blanket. You should find yourself stood at the foot of the bed if you followed step 2 closely. Depending on how long your arms are you might need to stretch to be able to reach both corners at once, but just make sure they are tightly held together.

Step 5
Now comes the fun bit. I am quite short which means that I cannot get the cover to fall over the entire blanket. With both corners firmly in hand, stand on the bed and give yourself a shake, which will make the duvet cover slide down the blanket. If you are a lot shorter than the duvet then hang it off the bed and you will have more room to work with.

Step 6
You should now be able to close the fastening at the bottom of the duvet cover. Once everything has been fastened then give the duvet an extra shake and you will have a smooth blanket under which to have a peaceful night’s sleep.
