• Canopy bed: Canopy beds are very grand and classic style of beds which are also called the four poster bed. These beds are more popular in UK. These beds come in all sizes from king size to single. The word canopy comes from a hanging canopy which drapes down from the canopy frame over the four posts of the bed. The canopy frame is usually the same size and shape of the bed but the varietys also have a circular frame sometimes.
• Futons: Futon beds are actually from Japan and were designed to focus on less space occupation. In the 80s, west was very inspired by the eastern culture and the Futon entered the western culture along with several changes. In Japan, a futon used to be a thin mattress that can be easily taken away to spare the space. In the western world, a futon has a plain and light frame of wood or even iron.
• Platform Beds: if you want a bed that is extremely plain yet chic than Platform Beds are what you want. These beds usually look like a plain wooden platform without any footboard or headboard. These beds are generally much closer to the floor and not too high.
• Murphy Beds: Murphy beds were made out of necessity to cope up with serious space problems, especially in small apartments. These beds can easily be tucked back into a wall or closet when no one requires to sleep in. There are two types of Murphy beds; one that can be folded into a wall, second one can be folded into an attached closet.
• Bunk Beds: another very practical and space sparing kind of bed is the bunk bed. Bunk beds are normal two and sometimes even three story beds. Although there are many safety rules regarding the height of the bunk beds, this style of bed is extremely popular as a children bed. Another variation of the bunk bed is the Loft bed.
